Earth Day: 5 Easy Eco-Friendly Swaps
1. Glass jars
Mason jars are the new rage. Every foodie instagram account seems to have at least one. But they serve as more than just a trendy way to showcase your smoothie. They are easy to reuse, clean and can be used to store anything from spices to salads.
Plastic is not biodegradable, so next time you go to buy more tupperware containers for you packed lunch, try using a jar in your kitchen or invest in a few that you can reuse.
2. dog-waste bags
Think about how many dogs are pooping this second in Australia alone. As a responsible dog owner, you always pick up after your little guy/gal, but if you are using a plastic bag to scoop that poop, it may sit in a landfill for up to 100 years.
There are many new eco-friendly dog waste bags on the market, so both you and your companion can help the environment. One of my favourite is Earth Rated
Try making your own green glass cleaner instead of buying toxic, chemical window cleaner. It's so simple, just combine equal parts vinegar and water.
4. Dryer Sheets
Dryer sheets are full of chemicals and also are throw away after one use. A great alternative are wool Dryer Balls. They are reusable balls that last up to 2 years and as cuts down on the time it takes to dry your clothes. You can also get creative and add some essentials oil drops to the ball to freshen the scent of your clothes
Buy a plant for your home and let it serve as a reminder of the beauty of nature and your commitment to live a little greener. Research has shown that the presence of plants leads to reduced stress and anxiety and increased feelings of calm.
